Sometimes things just happen without planning too much ahead. One morning you wake up in your bed and in the evening you go to sleep on the other side of the globe. At the beginning of 2008 our gallery family had no idea that the next summer will see the opening of Anni's Cafe, afterall we started off as an art gallery. As we are a family gallery, presenting work of one family only, then it was in a way a very natural outcome that the family's youngest daughter, an author of many beloved cook books, opened her cafe in the gallery, presenting her creation alongside with the rest of the family.

Looking back, the making of the book "Haapsalu's Cafes and Recipes" by Anni Arro and her team, gave a strong impulse to the creation of Anni's Cafe. Working with the book made us almost able to smell the delicious aromas of coffee and freshly baked pastry of the once famous Valdmanni Cafe, situated in the same building, where now is Anni's Cafe. Haapsalu used to be famous for its cafes! Today Anni's Cafe is filled with sweet scents of cinnamon, sugar, cherri jam, whipped cream, chocolate and marzipan from Nadja Kaarma's delicious cakes and pastry. She is a real wizard of cakes!

Traditions must be kept and continued, they are the pillars that keep us strong during the stormy seasons. A cup of tea or coffee, a bun or why not a big juicy slice of cake and good company in a cosy atmosphere are the small prizes in life, so little that we sometimes ignore them, yet they always make our hearts smile.

We invite you all to experience that mystical smile with a good cake and coffee and an ongoing tradition of Haapsalu's cafes. If the rest of the world rushes by, then Anni's Cafe is a place to stretch your legs, order something delicious to the table, feel the warmth of the fireplace or the cool of the thick fresco painted walls and discuss with friends, whether life really is beautiful or it only seems so.

Anni's Cafe is open 7 days a week during the summer period (28. 05 - 28.08) from 12 to 23. We are closed during the rest of the year. Please contact us if you would like to visit our cafe on other times or if you would like us to organize a special event for you.
