Jaak Arro
Född den 19 juni 1957
Utbildning:
1975 studentexamen vid Pärnu II gymnasium, då han börjar studera till konstlärare vid Pedagogiska institutet i Tallinn;
1978 fortsätter han studierna vid målningslinjen vid Estniska statliga konstinstitutet, där han 1984 avlägger examen med diplomarbetet ”Midsommardagen” (”Jaanipäev”).
Jaak Arro är gift med Epp Maria Kokamägi.
Karriär:
1984 börjar han undervisa i målarkonst vid Pedagogiska institutet i Tallinn;
1986 fortsätter han arbeta som frilanskonstnär (målare);
1995 blir han chef för avdelningen för målarkonst och professor vid Estniska konstakademin;
Sedan 2002 är han dekanus för de fria konsterna
Sedan 2003 frilanskonstnär.
Utställningar:
1987 The first one-man exhibition followed by performances “Awakening Art” and “Earth. Wind. Fire. Water.” together with Siim Tanel Annus in Pärnumaa, Kastna.
1988 The painting “Scarlet Evenings” For the “Mai” Cinema in Pärnu. Puppet film “Papa Carlo teater” (“Theatre of Papa Carlo”) in collaboration with Rao Heidmets. Performance “58`19``N 2355`,5``E” with the conductor Tõnu Kaljuste and Estonian Chamber Choir in Pärnumaa, Kastna.
1989 Group exhibitions “Estonia Now” in Person's and Lindell Gallery in Helsinki and "Võimas rühm” (“Powerful Group”) in the Tallinn Art House.
1990 Puppet film “Noblesse Oblige” together with Rao Heidmets. Group exhibition "Struktuur ja metafüüsika” (“Structure and Metaphysics”) in Finland, Sweden and Germany.
1991 One-man exhibition in the Tartu Art Museum.
1992 Group exhibition “Aeg on minu piloot” (“Time is my Pilot”) in Copenhagen.
1993 Exhibition “Baltikumi kunst” (“Baltic Art”) in Copenhagen. Puppet film “Elutuba” (“Livingroom”) with Rao Heidmets.
1995 One-man exhibition in the Tallinn Art Museum. Stage and costumes for “Edmund Kean” in Pärnu Theatre.
1996 Stage and costumes for the opera “Figaro pulm” (“Wedding of Figaro”) in Estonian National Opera.
1997 Stage and costumes for “Peer Gynt” in Tallinn Drama theatre.
1998 One-man exhibition in Turku Cultural Centre in Finland and one-man exhibition Boudoir” in Tallinn City Gallery.
1999 One-man exhibition in Kuressaare Town Gallery.
2000Stage and costumes for “Kähku igavikku” (“Quickly to Eternity”) in Vannalinna Stuudio theatre and for “Pihlakavein” (“Rowanberry Wine”) in Tallinn Drama theatre.
2001 One-man exhibition in Pärnu Town Gallery. Stage and costumes for an open-air performance of Tsehhov's “Kirsiaed” (“Cherry Garden”).
2003 One-man exhibition “Linnud” (“Birds”) in Tallinn Kunstihoone Salon.
Priser:
1987 Award of the Cultural Ministry of Estonia for the “Best Young Artist of the Year”.
1988 The Baltic triennial of paintings in Vilnius for Young painters: Award of the Cultural Ministry of Lithuania.
1989 Award of the Cultural ministry of Estonia for the “Best Artist of the Year” and the award of the Estonian Shipping Company for the “Best Artist of the Year”.
1990 The annual award of Kristian Raud. (The award of the Cultural Ministry of Estonia).
